Filsdorf is an idyllic village located in the municipality of Dalheim, in the southeast of the country. The village is mainly known for its Roman heritage. The Gallo-Roman colony "Vicus Ricciacus" near present-day Dalheim was on the important communication route connecting the Mediterranean to the Rhine and included several temples and baths. The highlight of archaeological findings was the discovery in 1985 of a theater with a capacity of 3,500 to 4,000 spectators. The Roman character of the site is today recalled by an obelisk topped with a Roman eagle on the plateau overlooking the village. The association "Ricciacus Frënn" also organizes guided tours of the Gallo-Roman theater and the vicus on summer weekends.

In Dalheim, there are a few restaurants and small shops. The "La Cerisaie" center of the Kräizbierg Foundation is located at the entrance to the village, near the school grounds, where people with physical disabilities can find supervised accommodation.

The "Charly Gaul" bicycle path (PC11) runs for 14 km from Fentange to Ellange and passes through Roeser, Weiler-la-Tour, and Filsdorf.

Filsdorf is very close to several major cities like Frisange or Remich, as well as near the French and German borders. The Esplanade of Remich invites to stroll through the market every three Mondays and to participate in the monthly flea market.

Mobility
The "Filsdorf, Op der Plaz" bus stop is a 5-minute walk from the property and is served by bus lines 171, 180, 192, and 455.

The nearest train and bus station, in Sandweiler-Contern, is a 15-minute drive away and is served by CFL line 30 (Luxembourg – Wasserbillig – Trèves). From there, Luxembourg’s main train station is accessible in less than 10 minutes by train.

Kirchberg in Luxembourg is only 20 minutes away by car. The cities of Esch-Belval and Remich are 25 and 10 minutes away respectively by car.

Schools
Children from cycles 1 to 3 are schooled on the site of the Kierlingerstrooss school in Dalheim. There is also an early childhood center and the "An den Wolleken" nursery. Cycle 4 is offered in the former school building of Dalheim.

In the surroundings, there are several high schools in Luxembourg City and Grevenmacher, all accessible by public transportation.
